A Company Indian origin, global automotive systems & components manufacturer with multiple plants spread across India, China, Mexico, and the USA. The company is one of India’s leading automotive technology companies, designing, manufacturing and supplying highly engineered, mission critical automotive systems and components such as differential assemblies, differential gears, conventional and micro-hybrid starter motors, BSG systems, EV traction motors (BLDC and PMSM) and motor control units to automotive OEMs across US, Europe, India and China, across all vehicle categories such as conventional passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, electric cars, electric light commercial vehicles, and electric two & three wheelers , looking for suitable candidate

Experience: 25+ years and min 5 years’ experience in managing/leading core design team

Age Limit : 52 to 55 years

Work Location: Chennai

Reports to: Sr. Vice President – R & D

Qualification: Post -Graduation preferred

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Functional:

Responsible for design, development of eV traction Motors.

Responsible for Design to Cost, Quality & Reliability targets for e Motors.

Responsible for new designs/ next generation starter motor designs.

Responsible for the CAD/CAE & Component specialist team.

Responsible for the e Motor development deliverable Milestones.

Responsible for selection of right EV motor based on customer input data.

Prioritize and manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.

Maintain accurate project information, formulations and specifications.

Work collaboratively with cross functional teams.

Closely supervise every step of the development process for new products.

Overseeing the development and maintenance of team competence.

Responsible for BOM creation, 2D/3D drawings and models, DFMEA preparation.

Responsible for conducting design reviews.

Responsible for warranty cost reduction to meet the OEM and company targets.

Develop prototypes to meet the customer timing, quality within in the budget.

Responsible for application engineering to optimize the product for exceeding the customer expectation with minimum cost.

Responsible for controlling all design documents- DFMEA, Engineering specification and design guide.

Responsible for timely completion of validation and report submission to customers.

Responsible for communicating the design changes to internal and external customers.

Lead the Bench marking Exercises for driving VA/VE actions to improve the functionality of the product and reduce the material cost.

Strong knowledge on Motor Design Tools (Motor CAD, SPEED and Motor Solve).

Managerial :

Participate the design reviews with OEMs.

Based on the inputs from customers, develop / innovate the next generation motor technologies.

Responsible for managing Core engineering teams.

Executing and monitoring the R & D department objectives.

Managing the design, development, testing and prototype teams.

Prepare and control the department group budget.

Coordinate and work with other departments to meet quality, cost and timing objectives.

Key Performance Indicators :

E Motor design and development as per the plan

CAE- Preventive Digital simulation.

Responsible for delivery of simulation & CAE, motor design, prototypes & motor validations team as they would be directly reporting to this resource.

Support CBG in new business development.
